<x-charset iso-8859-1>I took John C up on his kind offer of 25% off on an Aurora Super Mag plug wire set. Thought I'd fill y'all in on the details. Upside: They seem very robust and well made. Stainless steel wire wrapped around a fiberglass core, and three layers of insulation around that, the outer being red silicone. The plug connectors are also silicone, in blue, and come with black plughole skirts installed. At the distributor end are black, flat-top right-angle boots. The lengths are correct. My mechanic is impressed enough with them to want to run them on his 911-powered Notch. Nitpicking: The right-angle boots are slipped on rather than molded, so they aren't any lower relative to the engine cover than the 45-degree boots on the Bosch sets, and plugging them into the distributor is just as fiddly as with the Bosch. The plug connectors require the screw-on nipples that we're used to throwing away, and they're shorter than the OEM versions, so it takes a little oomph and extra reach to get them on (upside: I don't think anything could make them pop off once they're on well). The 8.5mm wires won't fit into the VW wire guides, forget about it. I'd have preferred black over red to suit my engine bay, and the brand marking on the wire is a good deal more prominent than I'd like. Details. I ordered through the Website and shipping was quick and correct. A positive transaction, thanks John!
