<x-charset iso-8859-1>Calling all carburetted T3ers, I'm still not happy with the performance of my carburettors. I'm trying to decide whether my mis-firing problems are due to the fuel system or the ignition. I am renewing the ignition system bit by bit but am sure I still have a problem with my carbs. I had the engine out over Christmas and discovered that the 3&4 head had come loose. I think this was because the carb for 1&2 had a sticking needle valve which was causing them to run very rich and so too cool and as they control the cooling flaps, 3&4 were overheating everytime the engine warmed up. I overhauled the carbs- cleaned, replaced accelerator pump membrane, new needle valves etc., yet I still have problems. I want to check the fuel level in the carbs. My plan is to remove them again, get the throttle shafts re-bushed, and measure the level. I will do this by cleaning out the bowls again, reassembling them, injecting them with petrol (or water- less smelly), disassembling them again and measuring the level in the bowl. The Haynes manual doesn't give a figure for the level. Does anyone know a figure for it? Or an idea where roughly it should be?
