The swing axle engine/transmission are supported at the front of the transmission and at the rear of the transmission; there is also a tiny little support at the far upper back that does almost nothing. Under the IRS system the engine/tranny are supported at the transmission nose and by means of a rear crossbar that attaches to 2 support points on either side of the rear of the engine. This system was introduced in type 3s in mid 68 with the 3 speed fully automatic transmission and in 69 for the manual 4-speed. - Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ------------------------------------------------------------------- Too much?
