<x-charset iso-8859-1>Looking closely at the background of the dial, it looks like a dual mode decal has been applied to the face. I have seen (and own) oval window era Beetle speedos which were km with a mph decal on the dial. The odometer continues to read in km/h, but the dial shows mph. I don't know why someone would go through the trouble with the set up I own, but the dual mode speedo decal would be pretty nice.
