Putting a header on it MAY add just a >wee bit of added HP, >say 5HP IF combined with more carburation... Internal combustion is not exactly rocket science. You can liken a stock VW engine to a fellow who is suffering from constipation. Open up the exhaust and all is good to take in more. If not you will need an enema to get all the "crap" out... :). Anyone who would increase carburetion as much as I plan, without first looking to increase exhaust flow, is setting themselves up for disappointment. JAKE Raby did not instruct me that increased carburetion, alone, would vastly improve performance. The man knows his stuff far too well and is to respectful to pass off that old "VW Magazine" rhetoric on anyone. It's quite simple. More intake needs more exhaust. I'm safe to say upgrading to twin dual-throat carbs along with a well flowing exhaust and proper ignition tuning would increase HP numbers slightly more than 5HP and I don't know about you, but i'm quite positive that on a 65HP engine, even 5 extra ponies would be very noticable. I love a good debate, hate an arguement. Let's keep it real and remember even if it does get heated at times, it's all for the betterment of our cars.
