<x-charset iso-8859-1> This "fact" has made its way through many BBS and always with horror stories that no one could substantiate. Several VW tranny specialists have always replied with the same thing, " Don't worry about it". That has always been their replies. They, the tranny specialists in the ACVW industry, that rebuild thousands of these gear boxes, have never seen any reason to warn their customers to not use GL5. I use it in my boxes, though I am switching one to Amsoil synthetic, and have to use it with my factory stock ZF limited slip diff. I am sure under absolutely the worst case scenario, there "could be" a problem. All I have ever seen is a few dis-colored synchros, never eaten, come out of a VW transaxle. My suggestion? Don't lose any sleep over it, and at the next change, go synthetic. Tom Tom's Old VW Home Home of the 2.7 L powered Notch http://home.att.net/~drsowatt/index/ . >It is GL-5 Gear Oil.
