<x-charset iso-8859-1>well i have been trying to figure out this high beam thing for a while. here is what is going on....(this is a '67 squareback) Regular headlights work, juice to fat yellow wire on fuse block no problem, when i hit the high beam toggle switch on the indicator arm, i hear an audible click (which i think is the relay) then my head lights go out. I checked the wiring, and the fat white wire which should then be receiving juice gets about .07 volts, basically nothing. i have the wiring diagram and everything seems as though it is in the right spot. what i can not figure out is there are two thin wires that are not hooked up to anything. one of the screws that mounts the fuse block to the dash(the passenger side screw) grounds two wires. one is hooked up to somthing(brown-and according to the wiring diagram goes to the turn signal switch) , the other doesnt go anywhere. when the ground is disconnected, the relay no longer clicks. the other wire is a thin black wire, which i can not find on the wiring diagram, one end is grounded and i cant tell where the other one is supposed to go. I also have a thin grey wire coming out of the steering column area, that is not hooked up to anything. I cant find this wire on the wiring diagram. other symptoms-the clock does not work(i have not checked it for juice yet) and the turn signal lights on the instrument cluster dont blink when i use the turn signal indicator. at some point a PO installed fog lights and a secondary switch, i have taken all these added wires out of the system, as the car has no fog lights. nad i athought it would be easier to diagnose the problems if i get the car back closer to the original state. temporarily i hooked up a bypass switch to turn the high beams to the fuse block where the radio would normally have attached. this seems to work, although i dont really see me using this much; is there any danger to this set up for the time being? thanks -kevin -67 squareback -65 kombi ------------------------------------------------------------------- Too much?
