Does it do it in all gears? Under all circumstances, or just under very light loads? I would check out all the rear subframe bolts and make sure that everything is there and tight, and that none of the rubber bushings has crumbled and fallen out. Then I'd check all the CV joints for tightness of the mounting bolts and for excessive looseness in the joints themselves. Then you should verify that the throttle valve switch is properly adjusted. As a test, you might want to see how it drives with the throttle valve switch disconnected. I think you need to look around for a less disinterested mechanic. I think he's telling you that he really neither likes your car nor cares about it. With a little effort you can be your own best mechanic. Remember, no one cares as much about your car as you do. There's lots of good help available to you here on this list, but you have to be our eyes and ears, so welcome to the club!
