I agree with Bryan, why not just convert your upright type1 engine to a type3 style. I did this to my Notch ( 73 bug motor ) a few years ago and haven't had any trouble with it. The only thing is I didn't get the case machined for a type3 dipstick as the motor was complete and together ( didn't want to disassemble the engine ). I just used a longer t-1 dipstick and raise the floor hatch when I check the oil. The conversion is very easy if you have the type3 parts to convert it, as the engine blocks ( type3 and type1) are the same inside and for the most part the same outside (dipstick housing being the big difference). If you have to buy the type3 parts car from the salvage yard to get the parts to convert, you would still be about $500 ahead of the game. About the only thing you would need to find would be the upper rear engine hanger, and someone on this list should be able to help you find that. I hpoe this helps you out, if you need more info contact me off list. Bob 65 Notch S w/ Sunroof ------------------------------------------------------------------- Too much?
