<x-charset iso-8859-1> P.A. These were new heads for 160 each. I have gotten my heads from several different places including directly from the source (MOFOCO), almost all of my heads were bought new exept for the 4 German ones I got Bear's Machine shop. My engine has lower compression at 115 to 120 lbs , probably around 7.5:1 compression and it is fully balanced. You know I am pretty anal about cooling, like that 140 plate mesa cooler with fans and extra big sump, I silicon seal all of my tin together, stock cam and no missing tin. I keep watch on my temps via head temp gauges. What can go wrong ? I see very predictable controlled temps. I guess aircooled may not like going above 80 mph for over 1/2 hour at a time ? Your car has the upright fan setup (Thing) and this is probably cooler than the type 3's because air is blown on top with no turns that exist in the Type 3's. I will have the head repaired and if it does not hold up , I will buy the Mexican heads as a pair. I almost bought the Mexican head but I had problems with several shops in Mexico that could not get their hands on them. I tried Fibertech but they told me I had to wait a couple of weeks so not wanting a run around, I decided to get the MOFOCO since I no longer wanted to deal with Spanish or Brazilian heads. I like experimenting anyhow, money getting blown is because of stuff breaking down. I do not trust anyone building stuff for me because most of the time they do not put as much love and dedication as I do. I have seen really crappy work done on other people. After these I will find out how long Mexican heads can last. I will let you know when I need those Mexican heads I will probably get them before another break down for just in case another incident. Somebody mentioned Cryogenically treated heads, where do I get that done ? P.A. does Don do that ?
