<x-charset iso-8859-1>P.A. I have used 3 sets of heads(even German, including MOFOCO) on the current engine. I get between 270 to 350 degrees on # 1 cylinder and 350 to almost 440 degrees on # 3 cylinder (head). I will see about any info on Cryoing the heads. Anyone know about that ? But, then again, I've built a few 6000 rpm 1600's too, but, T1's. Sorry, brain fart. But you still shouldn't be dropping vale seats. Cracking is usually caused by over heating and cooling too quick. Since you built this motor, how many heads have you gone through? I just put a set of old German heads on my Super's 1600, they came off a Thing motor I had. Original. I cleaned them up and checked for cracks, and had Don look at the seats, they all looked good, so I didn't have them rebuilt. Stay away from MFCO. Another 1776 I built used heads from Don. Stock 043's. See if you can find some. As far as cryo goes, I've not heard anything about this process used on heads, but I'vee got a rifle barrel thats been cryoed, and it shoots really accurate. If you find anything out, let me know. What temps are you getting on your heads? Is there much difference between the 2 sides?
