Re: [T3] Flickering Engine Oil Light at Idle
<x-flowed>>Yes, you are dumping some of your cooling air straight out of the fan
shroud instead of sending it over the engine to cool it. I would cap
it off with a cut-off soda can for now until you can find that piece.
Start with that and see if it fixes the problem.
UPDATE: Ok, I capped it with a cut-off soda can and that appeared to help.
The engine oil light still fickered, but it was noticably dimmer.
I was able to find the missing elbow part at Painter's Grinding here in
Denver, so I installed it. Now the problem is back as bad as ever. This
makes sense, because the hoses that go from the fresh air tubes and from the
heat exchangers to the body are in tatters and can't be hooked up (on both
sides). This means the cooling air is just travelling a little further
before being dumped out.
I'm thinking if I can find replacements for these hoses (I've called a few
places with no luck) and install them, my cooling system will function
properly on both sides of the engine, and maybe the flickering oil light
will go away. Does this make sense?
Does anyone know where I can obtain these hoses, or have suggestions for how
I can improvise some?
Gary
