<x-charset iso-8859-1>Yes you can assume that is TDC #1. Its an easy thing to re-index your distributor if you want to. Get the car to TDC #1, and make damn sure its at TDC #1. Remove the distributor, then using something :) (I used a small pocket screwdriver that has a strong magnet on the opposite end) pull the dist drive shaft out just enough to change its orientation .
