I pulled my left hand solex off last evening to examine it. What I discovered was very interesting. The port in the base of the carb, from which the vaccum advance signal is taken, was lower in the throttle bore than normal, thus exposing the port even at idle. In comparison to another throttle base plate I had, it is at least 1mm closer to the butterfly than normal. The other base plate I was in possesion of has about the same shaft play (very little) so I gave it a try. Worked splendidly. At normal idle, it has only a couple degrees variation from the "no vaccum" setting. This is a big improvment as compared to over 15 degrees difference!! Interesting how that base plate was like that. It hadn't been "home modified" or anything. Looked bone stock. *shrug* Marc 1967 Fastback Is your boss reading your email? ....Probably Keep your messages private by using Lycos Mail.
