It's no tach or trip speedo, but I came across a red needle clock (June 1963 stamp) at Kelley Park and had to pick it up. The clear plastic and the chrome rime could be in better shape, but I've got a couple of later clocks that would be suitable donors. I know it's totally wrong, but I'd love to put it in my '69. The red needle clock is 6v, though. I assume that the winding solenoid would not hold up well under the higher voltage, not to mention the internal fuse. I could build another little solid state voltage converter circuit like I did for my Beetle's wipers when I converted it to 12v. Is there some other easy way to swap solenoids or the entire guts from a 12v clock, or is the only practical solution really to run it at 6v? Also, I can't recall if I've ever taken off the clear plastic lens from a clock. Do you yank off (shudder) the winding knob after you've got the metal rings removed? Any suggestions? -Greg ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe? mailto:type3-request@vwtype3.org, Subject: unsubscribe
