Krys, It's always something... Here's my guess, as this is what happened to me recently: The noise you heard was probably your torsion bar slipping from the spines. If the bar slides back at all (toward the tranny) it can lose contact with enough of the splines that keep it in place. The bars are under great tension and when they slip out -BANG! Pull off the torsion bar cover plate (4 bolts) and see if it is still in the splines. If not, you'll have to re-adjust both sides. I had to tap the torsion bar back out toward the wheels from the other side when this happened to my car.
