Ok I need some advice, here is the continuing story. A few weeks ago I had a problem with power loss and hesitation on my 72 fastback AT FI. I replaced the fuel filter, no dice. I took it to the shop, they replaced a Fuel Injector, vacuum advance and changed the oil and added an oil treatment. Hesitation fixed. I have had it back for 3 or 4 days now. I drove it to the store on the first day, park, go to start it and it just cranks, giving it gas has no effect. I try multiple times, no go. I check the engine and the breather cap is popped, I replace that. A couple more tries and some pumping of the gas and it starts. No problems the next day, nor the next in which I drive it to work, 13 miles each way, no problems. Ok so here comes the problem. I drive to work, on the way back I get on the off ramp come to a light and it stalls, and I restart it immediately. I drive to a parking lot, everything checks out fine. I continue driving about a block, come to a stop it stalls and won't start, at all. Luckily the shop is only 2 blocks away. I run there and get the mechanic to come take a look. We check the spark, the points, the connections, we spray starting fluid, nothing, just cranks strong, but hollow. I gotta get it towed. While waiting for the tow truck about 45 min. later, I decide to try one last time, it fires right up. I drive it to the shop and it starts everytime after. Ok so what happened? I'm thinking that the valves where stuck open due to the heat of the engine. Could the new oil cause this? I say this only because before I took it to the shop for the hesitation problem, I drove 7 hours in hot weather with no problems whatever. Any Ideas? (Sorry this is so long) Jason T.
