well, he is a smaller shop and i know the guy personally. he seems to know
his stuff and he sure knows more than i do. he does a lot of rebiulds and
he is pretty careful. about type 3 specific knowledge, i'm not sure he's an
expert, but he's done a few T3 engines before.

he said $700 for parts and $500 for his labor, so $1200 for a full rebuild.
i save $200 by doing the grunt work myself and then the other $750 is high
performance parts ($250 for new case, $350 for 044 heads, and another $150
for cool tin, balancing, and mild cam) does this still sound like too much?

so, nix on the external oil cooler as well? i have a 48 plate cooler and i
don't know if it really does that much good. anyone have numbers to support
either way on a type 3? i have a thermostat to return to engine when cold
that i could use.

thanks,

dan
