I've tried several things and ended up spraying with a catylized polyurethane enamel. I use Polane, but Imron is the same thing, just more common and 4 times as expensive (as well as being available in lots of beautiful colors.) This is an industrial grade paint and really is not for home use. I have my parts sandblasted and then I prime (be sure to use good primer) and paint them in a commercial paint booth. You could probably get a body shop to do them for you at reasonable cost if you did all the prep work. BTW, the OE paint was not flat, it was glossy. I use the same gloss black on engine parts and wheels as well as lots of other parts like IRS axle shafts and shift levers. Powder paints may be a reasonable option in some areas, you just have to find someone with the equipment to do it. - ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe? mailto:type3-request@vwtype3.org, Subject: unsubscribe
