Usually, if this is done wrong, it will work for awhile and then slip and be "out of time." One thing you can do is just check the timing and see if it is still correct. If it is, then ignore my suggestion. They will only properly engage in the correct position, but they can tend to sort of catch in a wrong position. If it's wrong, you can usually twist the rotor and force it to slip around. > And if this is the case, can I do what you suggested in any firing position? Yes, you can do this in any position.
