well keep in mind if this engine has never been started and you have
installed a new cam you must not run the car at idle anyway you must break
the cam in at 2500rpm for the first 15 mins of running and do not allow to
idle then change the oil then you can think about running the car normally.
sorry for the little rant !
turn the mixture adjusting screws out 2 turns (in butterfly housing)

turn the idle screw in till it just touches the stop then a further
1/4 turn.
with the carbs cold so that when you operate them the chokes are
held open adjust the gap between the idle adjusting screw and the stop on
the carb with the little rod with 2 nuts on it so the gap is @ 1.5-2mm.
this last part is often overlooked and I feel it does affect the
choke operation of these carbs!
