I have several engines running in Type IIIs that are 1776 and Fuel Injected. They all run great.... more hill pulling power and quicker too. I would recommend this size if you keep EVERYTHING else stock. Heads need to be stock, cam needs to be stock, aircleaner needs to stay stock, nothing else can be tampered with. The only thing you will need to do is adjust the fuel pressure regulator to 31 to 32 pounds psi. You need to also make sure all 4 injectors are squirting properly (Just ask Leon...:+). The one thing about D-Jetronics FI is it is both crude and flexible at the same time. It was the first mass produced FI out there on VW, Jags, MB, Volvo, and such. The one variable that one can play with is the FUEL pressure. When the pressure goes up... more gas is squirted into the cylinder. When the pressure goes down, less gas is squirted into the cylinder. This is like the garden hose approach. Higher pressure squirts across the yard... and less pressure causes it to spray less far. I am assembling a 2.0liter right now that is stock except for a 78.4mm Volks Strocker III crank and 90.5mm cylinders. I am using 914 Porsche 2.0liter injectors since they are also D-Jetronics. The pistons will be pulling more of an air mass through the air manifolds but since it is still stock in all other ways it should compensate.
