Alright, I guess I should have looked at my wiring diagram first. The oil pressure opens the circuit. Removing the wire keeps it open....DUH-OH! If I remove the wire and ground it to the engine the green light comes on. Guess I should ahve thought about that a bit more. One mystery solved, still need advice on the odd whirring noise.
