If you have the crank out of the case, install the main brg, shims, and the flywheel, and chack the end play with a feeler gage. This acutally the most accurate way at this point in the game. It sounds like it is too tight, if it is turning the shims blue. Or you are not getting any oil to that main. > > What did you set your end play at? Now mic. the inside spacing of the bearing flanges. The bearing should be about same or .001" smaller.
