Re: [T3] Front needle bearings

I get nothing but errors when entering this site,
it is the onlty site that ever did this. Having that said , I
cannot see pictures of the types.
What I can tell you Is that the bearing in queston is
called "drawn cup neddle roller bearing with cage"
listed on the www.INA.com bearing site as
HK 3520 , DIN 618-1 / ISO 3245. There is a drawing
of this when you go and enter in the search. Our
bearing is very similar to this except for the outer diameter
being 42 mm insted of our correct 44 mm . I suggested
shiming this with a round 2mm thick round sleeve.
This manufacture I mention is the original VW part
manfacturer for this part. I contacted them and they said
that this part was not a catalog item but a ' special '
so if company orders dried up, then worldwide
production would stop. The part number is very odd
to them. They told me they would continue research
for this in their worldwide facilities but doubt for any
positive outcome .

Remember , only replace the bearing if your arms
are in good condition, otherwise you must machine
your arms and resleeve with hard chrome at an industrial
machine shop. When I look up the price and process for
this I will relay this information.

Plastic bearing replacement only requires that the arms
be cleaned or machined depending on condition, no
hard chrome is required.

Next week I will forward an autocad drawing to Russ
to look at the possible brass manufactured replacement.
