Jim and everyone else - Thanks for the always good advice. You'll be hearing more from me on the list as I fine tune my 66 square engine. Some may recall in my very first post, I said I got 35 mpg and IIRC Jim's reply warned of running too - oh, I always get confused between rich/lean - it has too much air mixture. Again, IIRC that causes it to also run hot. So before I start driving it a lot more I want to get it tuned properly. Well, a couple weeks ago I pulled a spark plug and it had carbon fouling verify the excess air over fuel mixture. Since I don't have the stock solex carbs, I figured using the standard manuals to tune my carb aren't much help, so I've been studying the Weber tech manual by CB Performance. I have 34 ICT (for sure about the 34 - is the ICT part right) with a .009 dizzy. What do I need to know to properly set my carbs and timing with the non-stock mods I have? I found this website link - don't know if these instructions apply to my model of carb. How helpful can they be for me? http://www.webercarbs.com/ - scroll down to important carb tuning into Thanks as always, Diana '66 Square 12v Kansas City, KS -----Original Message----- From: Jim Adney [mailto:jadney@vwtype3.org] Sent: Thursday, May 17, 2001 10:53 AM To: Diana Howlett Subject: RE: [T3] An idea for the list Start small, and don't get let your ambition carry you away. Too many project cars end up in the junk yard because the owners got overwhelmed by the scale of the project only after they were well into it. My advice is always to get the car running and drive it while you slowly fix the little things that you will only notice at that stage. The danger is in spending all your time/money on the things you want to do and then, when your resources are exhausted, discovering that there are OTHER things that HAVE to be fixed. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe? mailto:type3-request@vwtype3.org, Subject: unsubscribe
