I had the problem that jim is talking about (There are 2 black tubes,) mine were totally clogged with pine needles. i just pulled the black hoses loose from the firewall and left the other end hooked up. then i took the garden hose and blasted water up through them. then i removed the garden hose and let the water drain back into the bucket i had waiting there. i did this a couple of times until all debris was washed out. the advantage of doing it with the garden hose (no jokes please!) is that you don't have to remove the hose connection up under the dash. i found that i had great success cleaning out all of 30 year old junk this way. just my little 2 cents on this subject. peace all, jesse 71 fi squareback On 6 May 2001, at 21:25, Kevin wrote: > I have two areas of rot associated with a water leak. The most common cause is water leaking from the air boxes under the dash because the water drain tubes have become plugged with debris. There are 2 black tubes, ~1" diameter just in front of the radio. Pull them out of the firewall and down from the airboxes. Have a bucket ready to catch the water when you remove the hoses. ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
