It's very like a problem I had with an aluminium battery clamp - it kept corroding. Cleaning it up helped for a few days. A proper plated brass one cured it. Could be a bad connection in the main lead or earth to frame. Alternatively I wonder if the cranking current is heating the battery a bit internally, and opening up a crack in a plate connector. It's perfectly possible for an internal fault to develop in a new battery. Dave.
