I replaced my Bosch wipers with low profile stainless steel wiper assembly made by ANCO. These blade assemblies are very low profile, almost identical to the 70's Merecedes Benz ones but smaller. These are much "thinner" do not block the windsheild view. Very important for short guys like me (Im 5' 5'')or maybe a petit gal. Short people like me see more of the botttom of the window and lose some of the view. To other people it may desireable and useful too. These fit the right size standard 14 inch blades (I use 15 inch ones for more wiping). These look cooler but it is not the original bulky Bosh ones , sorry. These fit the VW arms perfectly. I found these in a junkyard on a Fastback. ANCO may still make these, one must call the company. Also to increase my windsheild viewing, I had to stop the wipers from flopping around when the wind hits the assembly. Alot of you guys have this problem too, right? This problem happens to the wiper arms that have a side set screw and the shafts are just smooth studs. Sound familiar? Do not put a longer set screw or you will just wear the shaft out more and maybe break it off, this happened to a t-3 guy I know. What I did, is measure the shaft width and go to a office supply store. Office supply store ? Yeah what I did is use the right size rear Chrome retractible pen shaft fat one to make a round shim. These are made of soft brass and a little thicker than paper. I ground the rear part to make it look like a tube that is open at both ends. Slid the the pen tips in and tightened the set screw and the wipers were tight ever since. If you can't find a fat enough one, you can get creative and use a thinner one, slit it open and use it as the shim. Also if you go to an electronic store, can buy one of those lightly made chrome plated brass antennas and use one of those as a wiper shaft shims. They are usually made for cordless phone or it's stations or portable radios. Cut them up for shims. Can this help some of you guys?
