Hey everyone, day 1 of my notchback diary. I 've got the entire drivers side of the car stripped to the inner fenders. My half-assed, fiber glassed repairs from ten years ago have held up nicely, only the cancer seems to have extended nicely as well. Let that be a lesson: take the time to hunt down and eliminate any trace of rust and neutralize it, cut it out and replace the panel if need be, anyway you can. I had a brief moment of terror when I found a large area of what looked like rust globs behind the rear fender, it turned out to be the material used to cover the seams where the body and armrest support piece are spot welded together. The seam sealer had collected dirt and spider webs but cleaned off nicely w/ a little elbow grease. I'll scrub it down, Extend it and seal it over again. I've arranged to get replacement heater channels, courtesy of Phil Toselli (thanks, Phil) that will be going in shortly, hopefully. Next day will probably be spent removing what's left of the old repairs and i.d.'ing any new concerns. I just realized today that the car had been clipped and repaired on the rear fender, there's white overspray inside the fender and through bolts where there should be sheet metal screws. The entire length of the inner surface is a nice Agate Brown, I'm kind of getting partial to it. Now if I could only feel the same way about the dark blue interior....
