Is this right, because there is nothing said about > spacers in any book that I have? I don't see how this could be unless these studs are not screwed all the way into the case, especially since you mention that you have added shims under the rockers. Did you shorten the pushrods rather than modify the rockers for swivel foot adjusters? You need to make all your changes here carefully. Rocker geometry has a BIG effect on valve guide life. This is not covered well in ANY of the books I have come across, although there is a hint in the Bill Fisher book. The best advice is to stick to the stock geometry as long as you're using stock valve springs. If you change springs you need to redo the calculations, which are involved and I have not done that for non-stock springs. > Next, I am going to be running the same duel carbs that were on the > 1776cc, do they need to be rejetted? Probably, but only because you have probably changed the compression ratio. > Ok last one, I am going to put pop outs in my 71 square, does it > already have the holes for the screws and hinges? Early 71s have the holes but not the reinforcing plates; late ones do neither. - Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ------------------------------------------------------------------- Search old messages on the Web!
