If you elect not to have the fuel cut-off valve, don't park nose up on a steep hill with a full tank, or you will have an engine with liquid fuel that won't turn over. If you make it turn over, you will then have bent con-rods. These valves were fitted at least in part in response to wrecked engines for this reason. Luckily in our case, my father didn't try bump-starting it, but just ran it back onto level ground and it dried out. Dave.
