What I found on my sender, was that the ground side of the resistance wire
was not making good contact. The rivet where the brass spring piece is
attached, was corroded. Due to the fragileness (is that a word) of the wire,
I didn't want to try to put in a new rivet. What I did, was drill a smalllll
hole in the mounting plate, ran a small wire through this hole, soldered
this wire to the brass spring, epoxied the hole closed around the wire, and
then grounded this wire under one of the mounting bolts. Presto, the gage
works fine now.
Although, when it says 1/4, I start looking for a gas station. My odometer
doesnt work either. One of many things that I still need to fix.
