Also, I've been hearing recommendations lately to use a bit of STP (the thick gear-oil stuff) in the oil during break-in, especially if you're using a new cam.. Supposedly the zinc content of motor oil has gone way down the last few years, and the lack of zinc is suggested as the cause of a lot of VW cams going flat.
