I removed the engine yesterday from my new 1968 Notch. I have removed engines before from Beetles, but this was my first try at a Type 3. The mistake I made was that I forgot the heavy fan at the end of the engine and placed the jack under the sump plate just as I did on the Beetle. The engine slid on the jack and tilted backwards until the muffler was on the jack. At this time the engine was tilted 45 degrees backward. Belive me, with an engine in this angle, there is not much room in the engine bay. After a lot of bad language, my father and I managed to get the engine out of the car without any damage to the car. However, there is a pain in every muscle in my body today... :-) Henrik Larsson, Sweden 1964 1500S 1968 1600L ------------------------------------------------------------------- Too much?
