That kind of happened to me when pulling the engine and automatic trans out
of my parts car. I had not used my transmission jack for quite a few years.
Before getting ready to pull them together, I pumped the jack up to see if
it still worked or needed fluid. It seemed to work fine.
When I pulled the last bolts out, and had the weight of the engine and trans
on it, it started to creep down, and I was not ready. I was yelling for the
wife to come help me while trying to keep anything from being damaged. I am
probably older than you, and I hurt a lot longer.
The next time, I will test a jack with a load on it.
