Which 2 cylinders? If they are on the same side, then you probably have a loose head. That might be fixable without a rebuild, but chances are the head studs are pulling out of the case and a good rebuild is your only choice. Be careful with buying a rebuild. There is a tremedous range of possible end result quality, heavily skewed toward the "poor" end. Plus most shops won't know how to properly assemble a type 3 engine and will do a number of things wrong. One thing to ask is how they feel about the aircooled thermostat assembly. If they tell you that they always take it out, or disable it, find another shop. Where are you located?
