I have this sneakin' feeling that the beetle front brakes, which COULD have been almost identical to our rears, were inverted with the cylinder at the bottom. This would mean that if that cylinder were mounted on a type 3 rear brake the bleed valve would be on the bottom. I can't think of any good reason for VW to have made the beetle this way.
