The German magazine "VW Speed" made an excellent article on the T3 cabrio last year, where the conclution was that 9 were made between 1960 and 1065. The problem with the car was that VW and Karmann engineers was not able to make the body rigid enough to satisfy their safety levels. The two cars at VW's Autostadt and Karmann's museum are the only two survivors. I can probably scan the pages someday. Maybe this weekend.
