[T3] Type3 notchback Cabriolets

In the Karmann Museum there is a white VW Type 3 notchback Cabriolet.
There is another red one in the Stiftung AutoMuseum Volkswagen at
Wolfsburg. Despite even publishing pictures of those gorgeous
cabriolets in early Type 3 sales brochures and exhibiting the cars at
the 1961 Frankfurt Auto Show, Volkswagen decided at the last minute not
to put these cars into production. A great pity!

I know several people have made quite good-looking replicas of these
notchback Cabriolets but are these the only two original examples in
existence? I have been told variously that four and even eleven were
built. Manufacturers usually send prototypes to the crushers but did
any other Type 3 notchback Cabriolets escape?
