It's hard to be sure about something like this from a distance, but the rust you have described sounds both typical and rather serious. coupled with the engine problem, I'd be hard pressed to spend as much as $1000 for it. The pristine interior is certainly appealing, but I think this car has some real body repair ahead of it. The fact that some of this has already been done is a sign that it really is worse than it looks.
