I think it was VWTrends that had a article on this exact thing several months ago. On a Type 3 fastback too!!!! Tom cover most of it, if not all of it. I like to use Mystery Marvel Oil to spray into the cylinder holes.. It looks like ATF, red in color. It will quiet down hydraulic lifters etc in older cars. but oil is ok too. I use MMO in my air tools. Also before actually runing the engine, while the plugs are out, oil changes and the other stuff done. turn the engine over with the starter to get the oil to all of the engine parts first. I am not sure if anyone packs the oil pumps with a light grease or gear oil on Air cooled engines. I don't know of a way to prime these engines. In the chevy V8 we made a tool from a old distribtor to turn the oil pump with a drill. They make a tool for this now. Russ or someone may have some idea on what they did at the dealerships or the "in the know" people do-did? - Richard Lost in Texas ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe? mailto:type3-request@vwtype3.org, Subject: unsubscribe
