I suspect that there's little to be gained by just trying to get EVERYTHING exactly on. It's probably more important to get all your parts to match. Like the rods should all be the SAME length, whatever that happens to be. The trick is to understand which things are important and which are less so. Balance is important, oil pump is important, clearances are important, combustion chamber volumes are important.
