Thanks for all the input guys. Some more info (sorry for the rapid brain download format): Engine is a 1971. Carbs (stock) were sync'd over the weekend. Valve clearances were done about a month ago. I haven't been able to get to a situation where I have any audible knock. (I'm a bit worried that there is some knock going on that I can't hear though) There is a wee flat spot just off idle which wasn't present with the all vacuum dizzy. After a 20 minute run at 65-70mph, the fancasing is very cool. The end of the dipstick is touchable for about 4 or 5 seconds. Don't know if this is a valid test on the T3. Can anyone suggest a good muirish test? I used to get about 28-30mpg with the old dizzy. This has dropped to about 25ish (a bit too early to get a good average - did do some carb sync'ing with the latest fuel added - hmm, maybe I should re-sync?). I have tried a 009 also (timed to 30° at 3000rpm), this gave similar mileage (bit less) to the old dizzy, but the throttle was very on/ off-ish, not too happy with 4th gear until about 40 either. With dual vacuum dizzy: Advance hose disconnected: idle advance 5°, 2000 rpm = 18°, 3000 rpm = 24°, 4000 rpm = 30° Advance hose connected: idle advance 5°, 2000 rpm = 25°, 3000 rpm = 40°. Crank angles were calculated from measurements from existing, known notches on the pulley) Vacuum at carb to advance unit hose: Idle (720 rpm) = 0 Inches Hg approx 2000 rpm = 15 Inches Hg Approx 3000 rpm = 18 Inches Hg Wide open throttle burst approx 4 inches Hg I have a dizzy from a 1964 1500s, with option M240 engine (low compression), would this be a suitable replacement?
