Suppose it > would be ok if the engine is unloaded. The twin vacuum distributors can give around 40 degrees max advance under light throttle openings. 7.5deg is the normal setting for earlier single vacuum, but TDC for earlier injection engines. The factory figures are on the club website, but it will still have to be guesswork if you're using a faulty component! Any clue on engine behaviour? Pick-up, temperature. I think 28 to 30 deg is perfectly acceptable on any distributor though, so if other signs are OK, I'd be tempted to leave it. The vac retard amounts to about 7deg at idle anyway, and quite soon disappears once the throttle plate opens a bit. Dave.
