Hello all. I have a fuel injection motor that has been converted to carbs (Dave Campens old car). It had a vacuum advance distributor that made the engine knock when picking up from low revs. This is with the timing set at 0° (left notch on the fi pulley, correct?). I've since fitted a vacuum advance/ retard distributor out of a carbed '70 fastback. The retard part of the unit is leaking, the advance side is fine. 1. Is it ok to use this distributor with the retard side unconnected? 2. How should this setup be timed? At the moment, it's set at 7.5° (2nd from left?), but I've noticed that the timing goes quite a bit over 30° when the revs are increased. I always thought that this was a big no - no. Suppose it would be ok if the engine is unloaded. I'd appreciate any advice on timing this distributor/ engine combination. Thanks Gary Miller Essex, UK P.S. The pulley is the one that goes I III ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe? mailto:type3-request@vwtype3.org, Subject: unsubscribe
