I have seen 1 of these engines in my entire career. If I remember right, it
was in a '65 1500cc Type 2. We sent it back for exchange on a factory
rebuilt. This was what the factory requested. They didn't want us to try and
rebuild it. I do not think that it was too successful. I doubt it there are
any of them still in existance.
