The bolts that hold the bracket to the trans will com off, with an offset
box end wrench. Then try to gently straighten the end piece. Be careful not
to bend the outer housing. Before you hook it back up to the trans, also
take a look at the connection of the cable to the shifter. When I went to
pull the cable out of my parts car, I found the cable loose at the shifter
end.
