What a good thing about the electric ign is that they do last long, and deliver a more precise spark. They are very efficient and don't require alot(if any)maintenence compared to the points. You don't have to adjust anything and wonder if you got the right adj. spec. However they are still *man* made. Like anything man made, eventually they will fail. That is why/when you have a spare set of points. They are cheap and almost anyone can put them in and they still work. So essentually you are both right! Just my 2 cents. Sheeeeeeeesh!!I've really got nothing against these, except for the ones that require a special rotor to fit in our distributors, but I think you're off base with most of your objections above. The stock points won't float, ever, within the red line of the engine. If you lube and clean the cam the point gap seldom moves. They work fine and there's nothing wrong with them, even if they did happen to be invented before most of us were born. They are a minor part of maintenance. They are no big dealOr as you said: Sheeesh!-*******************************Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.orgMadison, Wisconsin, USA*******************************-------------------------------------------------------------------Unsubscribe? mailto:type3-request@vwtype3.org, Subject: unsubscribe __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
