The problem with the wires and vinyl covers is partly correct, but the rest is simply not true. FI require little or no maintenance, just a bit of respect when you handle the parts. Most problems with the FI can be fixed very cheaply, but most people don't have the patience to figure it out. The switch to carbs costs quite a bit of money and seldom works well right out of the box.
